About Southern Star
The Southern Star Academy of Dance was founded in 2008 by owner and principal Mrs Danielle Small. Her vision was to create a safe, warm and encouraging dance space for the dancers of Dalby. A place where they can learn, grow and explore the magic of dance.
After 10 years of business our students are thriving! Our teachers are fully qualified with a passion for dance education, continually developing their skills and knowledge to ensure our students in this small town, dance big! While Southern Star caters to the everyday student who wishes to attend regular dance classes and perform in our local recitals, we also offer competition, exams and travel opportunities to the driven and committed performer.
We recently moved into a new premises which has been renovated to bring new life into this much-loved town building. With 3 air conditioned dance studios, a locker room, toilets and dance shop we feel the students will fall in love with their new studio just as quickly as we have.
21018 also paved the way for an exciting new expansion out to Chinchilla. We currently hold classes two days a week and offer a variety of options to the Chinchilla dancing community!
At Southern Star we pride ourselves on the ability to offer a wide range of dance styles to a wide range of abilities. From ballet to hip hop, beginners to advance, even starting with our twinkle toes students at the age of 2. There is something for everyone at Southern Star. It is our greatest joy to see our students embracing dance with open hearts and happy faces!
Our Dance School
From humble beginnings comes great things!
Over the past 10 years Southern Star has continued to be a strong and thriving business in town. We started off in a church hall on Beck street. Whilst we embrace our humble beginnings, it was certainly lovely to upgrade to our much bigger studio in Alice Street.
Alice Street was our home for the past 9 years, it is here that our students started to establish themselves as strong competent dancers, winning many awards and achieving fantastic results throughout Queensland. Alice street was expanded to encompass our dance shop in 2012, bringing with it our custom made uniforms. In 2015 we expanded next door and created a much needed 2nd studio which was a great relief to finally have all of our classes at the same address. Whilst we loved our home at Alice Street last year bought with it the opportunity to relocate.
In January 2018, we made 15 Irvingdale Road our home. This venue needed a lot of TLC, as it had been vacant for many years. However, now it has been transformed into the beautiful 3-room dance studio that we dance in today.
